Summary:
Delete range logic is moved from `DBIter` to `MergingIterator`, and `MergingIterator` will seek to the end of a range deletion if possible instead of scanning through each key and check with `RangeDelAggregator`.
With the invariant that a key in level L (consider memtable as the first level, each immutable and L0 as a separate level) has a larger sequence number than all keys in any level >L, a range tombstone `[start, end)` from level L covers all keys in its range in any level >L. This property motivates optimizations in iterator:
- in `Seek(target)`, if level L has a range tombstone `[start, end)` that covers `target.UserKey`, then for all levels > L, we can do Seek() on `end` instead of `target` to skip some range tombstone covered keys.
- in `Next()/Prev()`, if the current key is covered by a range tombstone `[start, end)` from level L, we can do `Seek` to `end` for all levels > L.
This PR implements the above optimizations in `MergingIterator`. As all range tombstone covered keys are now skipped in `MergingIterator`, the range tombstone logic is removed from `DBIter`. The idea in this PR is similar to https://github.com/facebook/rocksdb/issues/7317, but this PR leaves `InternalIterator` interface mostly unchanged. **Credit**: the cascading seek optimization and the sentinel key (discussed below) are inspired by [Pebble](https://github.com/cockroachdb/pebble/blob/master/merging_iter.go) and suggested by ajkr in https://github.com/facebook/rocksdb/issues/7317. The two optimizations are mostly implemented in `SeekImpl()/SeekForPrevImpl()` and `IsNextDeleted()/IsPrevDeleted()` in `merging_iterator.cc`. See comments for each method for more detail.
One notable change is that the minHeap/maxHeap used by `MergingIterator` now contains range tombstone end keys besides point key iterators. This helps to reduce the number of key comparisons. For example, for a range tombstone `[start, end)`, a `start` and an `end` `HeapItem` are inserted into the heap. When a `HeapItem` for range tombstone start key is popped from the minHeap, we know this range tombstone becomes "active" in the sense that, before the range tombstone's end key is popped from the minHeap, all the keys popped from this heap is covered by the range tombstone's internal key range `[start, end)`.
Another major change, *delete range sentinel key*, is made to `LevelIterator`. Before this PR, when all point keys in an SST file are iterated through in `MergingIterator`, a level iterator would advance to the next SST file in its level. In the case when an SST file has a range tombstone that covers keys beyond the SST file's last point key, advancing to the next SST file would lose this range tombstone. Consequently, `MergingIterator` could return keys that should have been deleted by some range tombstone. We prevent this by pretending that file boundaries in each SST file are sentinel keys. A `LevelIterator` now only advance the file iterator once the sentinel key is processed.

- Performance benchmark: I used a similar setup as in the blog [post](http://rocksdb.org/blog/2018/11/21/delete-range.html) that introduced DeleteRange, "a database with 5 million data keys, and 10000 range tombstones (ignoring those dropped during compaction) that were written in regular intervals after 4.5 million data keys were written". As expected, the performance with this PR depends on the range tombstone width.

When compaction filter determines that a key should be removed, it updates the internal key's type
to `Delete`. If this internal key is preserved in current compaction but seen by a later compaction
together with `SingleDelete`, it will cause compaction iterator to return Corruption.
To fix the issue, compaction filter should return more information in addition to the intention of removing
a key. Therefore, we add a new `kRemoveWithSingleDelete` to `CompactionFilter::Decision`. Seeing
`kRemoveWithSingleDelete`, compaction iterator will update the op type of the internal key to `kTypeSingleDelete`.
In addition, I updated db_stress_shared_state.[cc|h] so that `no_overwrite_ids_` becomes `const`. It is easier to
reason about thread-safety if accessed from multiple threads. This information is passed to `PrepareTxnDBOptions()`
when calling from `Open()` so that we can set up the rollback deletion type callback for transactions.
Finally, disable compaction filter for multiops_txn because the key removal logic of `DbStressCompactionFilter` does
not quite work with `MultiOpsTxnsStressTest`.

Summary:
We have a number of tests hanging on MacOS and windows due to
mishandling of code for mock sleeps. In addition, the code was in
terrible shape because the same variable (addon_time_) would sometimes
refer to microseconds and sometimes to seconds. One test even assumed it
was nanoseconds but was written to pass anyway.
This has been cleaned up so that DB tests generally use a SpecialEnv
function to mock sleep, for either some number of microseconds or seconds
depending on the function called. But to call one of these, the test must first
call SetMockSleep (precondition enforced with assertion), which also turns
sleeps in RocksDB into mock sleeps. To also removes accounting for actual
clock time, call SetTimeElapseOnlySleepOnReopen, which implies
SetMockSleep (on DB re-open). This latter setting only works by applying
on DB re-open, otherwise havoc can ensue if Env goes back in time with
DB open.
More specifics:
Removed some unused test classes, and updated comments on the general
problem.
Fixed DBSSTTest.GetTotalSstFilesSize using a sync point callback instead
of mock time. For this we have the only modification to production code,
inserting a sync point callback in flush_job.cc, which is not a change to
production behavior.
Removed unnecessary resetting of mock times to 0 in many tests. RocksDB
deals in relative time. Any behaviors relying on absolute date/time are likely
a bug. (The above test DBSSTTest.GetTotalSstFilesSize was the only one
clearly injecting a specific absolute time for actual testing convenience.) Just
in case I misunderstood some test, I put this note in each replacement:

Strengthened some tests like MergeTestTime, MergeCompactionTimeTest, and
FilterCompactionTimeTest in db_test.cc
stats_history_test and blob_db_test are each their own beast, rather deeply
dependent on MockTimeEnv. Each gets its own variant of a work-around for
TimedWait in a mock time environment. (Reduces redundancy and
inconsistency in stats_history_test.)
Intended follow-up:
Remove TimedWait from the public API of InstrumentedCondVar, and only
make that accessible through Env by passing in an InstrumentedCondVar and
a deadline. Then the Env implementations mocking time can fix this problem
without using sync points. (Test infrastructure using sync points interferes
with individual tests' control over sync points.)
With that change, we can simplify/consolidate the scattered work-arounds.

Previously, a `ReadOptions` object was stored in every `BlockBasedTableIterator`
and every `LevelIterator`. This redundancy consumes extra memory,
resulting in the `Arena` making more allocations, and iteration
observing worse cache performance.
This PR migrates callers of `NewInternalIterator()` and
`MakeInputIterator()` to provide a `ReadOptions` object guaranteed to
outlive the returned iterator. When the iterator's lifetime will be managed by the
user, this lifetime guarantee is achieved by storing the `ReadOptions`
value in `ArenaWrappedDBIter`. Then, sub-iterators of `NewInternalIterator()` and
`MakeInputIterator()` can hold a reference-to-const `ReadOptions`.

Summary:
We found that the behavior of CompactionFilter::IgnoreSnapshots() = false isn't
what we have expected. We thought that snapshot will always be preserved.
However, we just realized that, if no snapshot is created while compaction
starts, and a snapshot is created after that, the data seen from the snapshot
can successfully be dropped by the compaction. This creates a strange behavior
to the feature, which is hard to explain. Like what is documented in code
comment, this feature is not very useful with snapshot anyway. The decision
is to deprecate the feature.
We keep the function to avoid to break users code. However, we will fail
compactions if false is returned.

to create a collapsed, binary-searchable representation of range
tombstones. With FragmentedRangeTombstoneIterator, much of this work is
now unnecessary. RangeDelAggregatorV2 takes advantage of this by seeking

doing minimal work in AddTombstones. The old RangeDelAggregator is still

Fixes the following scenario:
1. Set prefix extractor. Enable bloom filters, with `whole_key_filtering = false`. Use compaction filter that sometimes returns `kRemoveAndSkipUntil`.
2. Do a compaction.
3. Compaction creates an iterator with `total_order_seek = false`, calls `SeekToFirst()` on it, then repeatedly calls `Next()`.
4. At some point compaction filter returns `kRemoveAndSkipUntil`.
5. Compaction calls `Seek(skip_until)` on the iterator. The key that it seeks to happens to have prefix that doesn't match the bloom filter. Since `total_order_seek = false`, iterator becomes invalid, and compaction thinks that it has reached the end. The rest of the compaction input is silently discarded.
The fix is to make compaction iterator use `total_order_seek = true`.
The implementation for PlainTable is quite awkward. I've made `kRemoveAndSkipUntil` officially incompatible with PlainTable. If you try to use them together, compaction will fail, and DB will enter read-only mode (`bg_error_`). That's not a very graceful way to communicate a misconfiguration, but the alternatives don't seem worth the implementation time and complexity. To be able to check in advance that `kRemoveAndSkipUntil` is not going to be used with PlainTable, we'd need to extend the interface of either `CompactionFilter` or `InternalIterator`. It seems unlikely that anyone will ever want to use `kRemoveAndSkipUntil` with PlainTable: PlainTable probably has very few users, and `kRemoveAndSkipUntil` has only one user so far: us (logdevice).

This adds the ability for compaction filter to say "drop this key-value, and also drop everything up to key x". This will cause the compaction to seek input iterator to x, without reading the data. This can make compaction much faster when large consecutive chunks of data are filtered out. See the changes in include/rocksdb/compaction_filter.h for the new API.
Along the way this diff also adds ability for compaction filter changing merge operands, similar to how it can change values; we're not going to use this feature, it just seemed easier and cleaner to implement it than to document that it's not implemented :)
The diff is not as big as it may seem, about half of the lines are a test.

- Made RangeDelAggregator's InternalKeyComparator member a reference-to-const so we don't need to copy-construct it. Also added InternalKeyComparator to ImmutableCFOptions so we don't need to construct one for each DBIter.
- Made MemTable::NewRangeTombstoneIterator and the table readers' NewRangeTombstoneIterator() functions return nullptr instead of NewEmptyInternalIterator to avoid the allocation. Updated callers accordingly.

- DBIter maintains a range tombstone accumulator. We don't cleanup obsolete tombstones yet, so if the user seeks back and forth, the same tombstones would be added to the accumulator multiple times.
- DBImpl::NewInternalIterator() (used to make DBIter's underlying iterator) adds memtable/L0 range tombstones, L1+ range tombstones are added on-demand during NewSecondaryIterator() (see D62205)
- DBIter uses ShouldDelete() when advancing to check whether keys are covered by range tombstones
